We have had an exciting couple of months at CBESS working on our end of project outputs; a carbon predication tool for ecosystem managers and a complimentary citizen science app.

Once again, CBESS was well represented at the University of Cambridge Science Festival on 12 March 2016, with a wide range of demonstrations on how tides and waves shape the UK coastline.

Bangor University and University of Cambridge have had a very productive winter, in this season’s progress report Bangor are the focus. In the spring we will focus on Cambridge and their experiences of influencing professional stakeholders with CBESS science.
Summer 2015: a mixed bag of fieldwork, meetings and engagement
With less than a year until CBESS comes to an end, we are increasingly busy working on Theme 2 (context) and Theme 3 (scale). We have also been back in the field, in preparation for development of the Ecosystem Provisioning Tool. There have also some interesting collaborations between science and art.

Pint of Science; a science festival is bringing learning to your local. The festival takes place over three evenings in May and happens simultaneously in the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, USA, Spain, Germany, Brazil and Australia. The 2015 Festival hosted 500 speakers in 68 pubs across 12 cities and 20 universities

Dr Tom Spencer (of CBESS) is organising a one day international scientific meeting (11 May) looking at geomorphic contributions in an age of extremes.
University of Cambridge: splash and squelch
On Saturday 14 March, the Cambridge Coastal Research Unit put on a display and activities as part of the University of Cambridge Science Festival. Masterminded by CBESS’s Dr Iris Moeller, and with old CBESS hand Ben Evans on parade, the activities were entitled ‘Splash and Squelch’ and held in the Department of Geography.
