CBESS and the Sea Mammal Research Unit (SMRU) at the University of St Andrews joined forces for the Dundee Science Festival. We spent a fun-filled afternoon at Menzies Community Centre in Dundee.
MERP: origins of ecosystem services
Confusion regarding ecosystem service (ES) terminology is broadly acknowledged, both within the MERP (Marine Ecosystems Research Programme) community and beyond. Given its infancy and interdisciplinary nature this is not surprising, but it is problematic when working in this field. To overcome this confusion it is worth taking a few minutes to consider the history of ES.
Autumn 2015: career progression, outreach and policy
This autumn there has been a lot of activity behind the scenes better understating our data and the story it is telling us. However, we have found the time to leave our desks and talk and engage with fellow researchers and the public.

Summer 2015: a mixed bag of fieldwork, meetings and engagement
With less than a year until CBESS comes to an end, we are increasingly busy working on Theme 2 (context) and Theme 3 (scale). We have also been back in the field, in preparation for development of the Ecosystem Provisioning Tool. There have also some interesting collaborations between science and art.
Bangor University: inter-project fieldwork
A group of CBESS and RESILCOAST researchers are currently on a field trip to South Walian saltmarshes.
