University of St Andrews: science discovery day 2015

The annual University of St Andrews ‘Science Discovery Day’ has become quite an event. Over 600 people participated and the feedback was enthusiastic and overwhelmingly positive.

On Saturday 7 March, CBESS, the Sediment Ecology Research Lab and Evolutionary Developmental Group teamed up to deliver ‘Coastal Connections: mudflats to rocky shores’. The mudflats at the Eden Estuary and rock pools at East Sands beach are teeming with life, staff and students gave families the chance to discover what strange and interesting creatures lie beneath and take the opportunity to get a closer look at them. It’s not just worms and crabs but mud shrimps and chitons.
