CBESS is organising a BESS funded workshop ‘From form to function: statistical approaches to the Biodiversity-Function-Service Chain’

Ecosystem service flows are central to the development of the ecosystem approach to habitat management. The BESS programme is designed to examine ecosystem function and service flows at the landscape scale, the “Biodiversity-Function-Service Chain” (BFSC). However, the operational links between determining biodiversity, the related ecosystem functions and the services provision that lies at the heart of ecosystem management is complex. Each of the four BESS consortia may develop different approaches to the analysis of their basic data, but strategic coordination to consider how best practise might be shared among the groups would be advantageous.
This is the first of a series of interrelated workshops to define how to link biodiversity metrics to functional measures and to ecosystem service flows using varied mathematical and modelling methods.
The workshop will last for 2 days with a workshop dinner at the end of the first day. This workshop has been kindly funded by BESS.
