Biodiversity and Ecosystem Service Sustainability in salt marsh to mudflat landscapes.
This workshop is meant as a show and tell, and a view to the future, in regards to research on, and management activities related to, salt marsh to mudflat landscapes; in particular that concerning ecosystem functioning and ecosystem services (human benefits from ecosystems).
Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has expressed an interest in having stronger links with the local research community on these issues. Equally, The School of Ocean Sciences (SOS) with the Centre of Ecology and Hydrology (CEH) would like stronger input from the main end-users, as to what fundamental research is required to inform their activities and decision making – are we doing OK, or are there research areas that we need to expand into? We also recognise that we have been poor at informing our local end-users, of the wide array of recent research that we have done/are doing on this coastal landscape. We can do better.
The idea is, therefore, for SOS-CEH to blitz-showcase our work, for NRW to outline some main policy and management drivers of relevance to this research area, and for us all to discuss the way ahead, in terms of directed research, modes of interaction and collaborative research.
The meeting is co-organised by Dr Kirsty Lindenbaum (NRW) and Dr Martin Skov (Ocean Sciences).
The workshop will be held on Wednesday 25th September from 09:00 to 14:00.
